Sherbrooke Lake Family Camp – We went to Sherbrooke Lake UC Camp September 5-7, 2014. We enjoyed campfires and songs, pasta making, puppet making, candle making and stained glass. We even built a labyrinth in the woods. A wonderful time was had by all. (pictures to follow).
The Women’s Breakfast Group Road Trip was held from June 19-21, 2014 at Pictou Lodge. It was open to all women of the congregation, and those who attended enjoyed wonderful fellowship with each other as well as with a women’s group from Pictou called Tapestry, who joined us for the day. The morning program was led by Rev. Mary-Beth Moriarity from Pictou United Church.

Families on the Run, Come Eat and Have Fun Suppers – These suppers are held in the New Minas site on the last Tuesday of the month for all families. The menus feature 
child friendly foods and are provided by the Congregational Life Committee, and the program is offered by the Faith Formation Committee.
Congregational Life held a Car Rally on October 16, 2013 on a lovely fall day. Ten cars with participants left at timed intervals t
o follow a route on the back roads, looking for clues noted on the information sheets. A great time was had by all, followed by lunch back at the church. Scores were given based on accuracy of answers, mileage covered and time taken.
The Orchard Valley Prayer Shawl Ministry was formed in the fall of 2012 to knit or crochet shawls or lap robes. These shawls are made with open hearts and hands and are given to those in need of comfort in times of sorrow or illness. They may also be given to help mark an important celebration or stage in life such as baptism or a special birthday. The group meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at the New Minas site at 7pm to knit and chat. All are welcome; young and old, experienced and novice knitters or crocheters. These are pocket prayer squares that the committee gives to all new members of the church.
