FundScrip – The Men’s Group runs the “FundScrip” fundraising program. To obtain details on how the program works, please see one of the men at the back of the Sanctuary. Please note that December 16 is the last order date and December 23 is the last delivery date before Christmas. Order dates will resume January 6.
Longest Night Service – On Friday, December 21, at 7:00 pm, Orchard Valley United Church will hold a Longest Night service. It will be a service of music, candle lighting and comfort during this overly busy and sometimes frantic time of the year. All are welcome.
White Gift Sunday – December 16 – Our white gifts will be given to Chrysalis House in Kentville. Their wish list is as follows:Gift cards or gift certificates for grocery, gas, dollar store, or hair salons. Household items: towels, facecloths, full sets of dishes, pots and pans, cleaning supplies, paper towel, toilet paper, Personal care items: feminine hygiene products, shampoo, conditioner, hair brushes and combs, body wash.
Congregational Christmas Breakfast – The Friday Morning Breakfast Women invite the congregation to a Christmas Breakfast on Friday, December 21 at 9:00 am. Freewill offering. Entertainment to follow. All members of the congregation are welcome.
Senior Men’s Fellowship Luncheon – All men are cordially invited to our next Senior Men’s Fellowship Luncheon at noon on Friday, December 14. Delicious home-made soup, biscuits and cookies will be served. Cost is $5. Our Christmas meeting speaker is our own Rev. Don Sellsted. Christmas Hamper Program – OVUC, as part of our Outreach mission, will be providing 40 less fortunate families from the Kentville / New Minas communities with Christmas Hampers, as well as financially contributing to hampers distributed in Wolfville and Canning. Please support this much-needed outreach program with monetary donations.
Our goal is to raise $4,000 by December 10. We can do it with your help. Donations can be put in the specially marked envelopes at the back of the church or by using an envelope that you clearly indicate for the Hampers, mailed to the church, or placed in the offering plate. Cheques should be made payable to Orchard Valley United Church, and must note “Christmas Hamper Program”. If you have questions, please speak to Helen Seymour or Sheila Fisher. OVUC Giving Tree 2018 – Donation cards and envelopes are available at the back of the church or from a member of the Stewardship Committee. Please give your completed card and donation to a member of the Stewardship Committee (before or after the service). We will exchange a red bow on the tree for a white one with each donation received. Donations will be accepted from November 25 to December 16 inclusive.
“Meet Your Feet” free monthly foot care is available from licensed foot care nurses during three sessions per month. No appointment necessary. Visit our webpage for more information: Meet Your Feet
Christmas Office Closure – The church office will be closed December 24 through January 1, inclusive. Email and telephone will not be monitored during this time. Phone calls and emails to the office will be returned on January 2, 2019. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
